Atlanta Steeplechase 2011
Put on your seersucker and don your hats for the ultimate dog and pony show:
The Atlanta Steeplechase
Thanks to all the hard-working volunteers who came out in support of the College at the 45th Annual Atlanta Steeplechase at Kingston Downs, Ga., on April 24, 2010! Despite the rain, it was a fun day and a rousing success!

Proceeds from the event will go toward building a much-needed new hospital for animals at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
About the Event
The Atlanta Steeplechase, now referred to as The Best Lawn Party in Georgia, is the region’s premier spring social event. Held annually at Kingston Downs race course along the banks of the beautiful Etowah River, it combines the best in cosmopolitan lifestyle, Southern hospitality and family entertainment with the exhilarating Sport of Kings.
During one Saturday each April, the countryside comes alive with colorful jockey silks, powerful thoroughbreds, sumptuous hospitality parties, terrier races, hat contests, and carefree spectators enjoying an unforgettable day of horse racing and fun.
The Atlanta Steeplechase benefits two revered Georgia icons, Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Join the celebration that started in 1966 with fewer than 100 Guarantors enjoying the first Tent Party while picnickers and tailgaters established a custom of gourmet food as part of Atlanta’s unique 'Chase day.
Today, the 435 acre Kingston Downs hosts fun-loving spectators – whether at lavish private corporate parties “on the hill” or up close to the action in the general admission infield – for a great day of springtime racing. And, whether you have been a devoted spectator since the beginning, or you are new to the Steeplechase tradition, come experience the rite of spring that celebrates championship racing with food, fashion, fun and friendship.
