New test may help address costly parasite in sheep industry

Researchers from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine have made an unexpected dual discovery that could open new avenues for treating Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, or "Ich," a single-celled protozoan parasite that commonly attacks freshwater fish. The Class of 2013 - White Coat Ceremony

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine welcomed the class of 2013 during its annual White Coat Ceremony held on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Sponsored by the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, this event officially recognized 102 members of the incoming class of 2013 by donning them in bright white lab coats to be worn during their veterinary education. The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine has hired a distinguished immunobiologist as part of the infectious diseases research team expansion.
Dr. Donald Harn comes to UGA as a Georgia Research Alliance Distinguished Investigator, a program designed to recruit research scientists who are well-regarded in next-generation vaccines and therapeutics research. He is formerly a professor of immunology and infectious diseases at the Harvard School of Public Health.
